A Portable Peritoneal Dialysis System (PERITOCARE)
BRIEF TECHNOLOGY
Peritocare provides an innovative solution with a portable peritoneal dialysis system designed to offer freedom and improve patients’ quality of life. This machine is lightweight, easy to carry, and equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) technology, allowing data to be monitored in real-time by hospitals. This not only simplifies treatment management for patients but also reduces the risk of infection with its user-friendly design
INSPIRATION OF THE INVENTION
The inspiration for Peritocare came from the need to improve the quality of life for chronic kidney disease patients, who often face restrictions due to traditional dialysis methods.
PROBLEM STATEMENT & CURRENT ISSUES
Traditional peritoneal dialysis presents significant challenges for chronic kidney disease patients, primarily due to the restrictions it imposes on their mobility and independence. Patients are often tied to a machine for several hours each day, disrupting their daily lives and limiting their ability to work, engage in social activities, and maintain a normal routine. This inconvenience is compounded by the high risk of infection, such as peritonitis, which requires strict hygiene protocols that can be difficult to maintain consistently. Additionally, patients in rural or remote areas face accessibility challenges, making it harder for them to receive regular treatment. As the number of CKD patients continues to rise, these issues also place an increasing burden on healthcare facilities, making it difficult to provide adequate care for everyone in need.
INVENTIVENESS & NOVELTY
- Peritocare stands out for its innovative approach to peritoneal dialysis, combining portability with advanced technology to address the limitations of traditional systems. Unlike conventional dialysis machines, Peritocare is lightweight, compact, and designed for easy mobility, allowing patients to maintain their daily routines without being tethered to a stationary device. Its integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology is particularly novel, enabling real-time data transmission and monitoring by healthcare providers, which enhances patient safety and treatment efficiency.
- This system not only reduces the risk of infection by incorporating user-friendly features that simplify hygiene protocols, but also offers unprecedented flexibility, making it accessible to patients in rural areas, travelers, and those with demanding schedules. The ability to perform dialysis on the go without compromising on treatment quality is a groundbreaking advancement that sets Peritocare apart from existing solutions, making it a truly novel and inventive product in the field of kidney care
USEFULNESS & APPLICATION
- Peritocare is ideal for chronic kidney disease patients, the elderly, individuals in rural areas, and those who need flexibility in their treatment schedules, including travelers and pilgrims performing umrah and hajj.
IMPACT OF THE PRODUCT
- Peritocare revolutionizes dialysis by offering a portable, user-friendly solution that allows patients to maintain their daily routines with minimal disruption. Its IoT integration enables real-time monitoring, improving patient safety and care. By enhancing mobility and reducing infection risks, Peritocare significantly improves the quality of life for kidney disease patients and eases the burden on healthcare systems.
MARKET POTENTIAL
- Peritocare has strong market potential, especially in regions with high rates of chronic kidney disease, such as Malaysia and other parts of Southeast Asia. The growing number of CKD patients and the limitations of existing dialysis methods create a significant demand for more flexible and portable solutions.
- The product also holds appeal in global markets, particularly in countries with aging populations and increasing healthcare needs. Peritocare’s ability to improve treatment outcomes and quality of life positions it as a compelling option in the dialysis market. The potential for adoption in both home care and clinical settings further expands its market reach.
