Module for CLASS 2013 & ICOP 2014
BRIEF TECHNOLOGY
We have developed modules to train industry to comply with the Classification, Labelling and Safety Data Sheet Regulations 2013 (CLASS 2013) that enforced by Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Malaysia.
INSPIRATION OF THE INVENTION
DOSH Malaysia has gazetted the CLASS 2013 and the ICOP 2014 (Industrial Code of Practice on Chemical Classification and Hazard Communication). However, most of the industries are facing challenges to understand and comply with both CLASS 2013 and ICOP 2014. Therefore, UKM has developed the module to train relevant participants, particularly industry, on the technical aspects of CLASS 2013 and ICOP 2014.
PROBLEM STATEMENT & CURRENT ISSUES
- DOSH gazetted CLASS 2013 and the ICOP 2014. Both instruments contain technical elements that are difficult to be understood by industry.
- Therefore, industry are facing challenges to comply with both CLASS 2013 and the ICOP 2014.
INVENTIVENESS & NOVELTY
- The training modules developed by UKM are able to train industry on the technical aspects of CLASS 2013 and ICOP 2014.
- The training modules have simplified the technical aspects of CLASS 2013 and ICOP 2014, where industry can easily understand and then to comply with both CLASS 2013 and ICOP 2014.
USEFULNESS & APPLICATION
UKM has used the modules and conducted 5 training sessions from 2016-2019.
IMPACT OF THE PRODUCT
Once industry was trained using the training modules developed by UKM, it is believed that industry can comply with CLASS 2013 and ICOP 2014. The compliance will strengthen chemical safety at the workplace.
MARKET POTENTIAL
UKM has conducted 5 training sessions from 2016-2019, where the total gross training fees collected was RM 146,000.
